Ice Cube Facials – The Best Skin Secret Ever

We are always looking for effective and easy ways to deal with skin-related issues. We all want to look young and fabulous all the time. But that’s not always possible. A number of factors like age, environment, illness, stress and other things take a toll on us. Most of the time, we are willing to spend a bomb to take care of the issues. But we don’t always need to do that as there are simple, easy and inexpensive options that are available. And several times, these options are there right in our kitchens; we just don’t know that. 

The simple, innocuous-looking ice cube is one such remedy that we have. An ice cube has more skincare benefits than we can ever imagine. They can take care of a number of our issues.

Ice cubes can be used to do Ice Cube facials which we can do ourselves sitting in the comfort of our homes. We don’t need to go anywhere; we don’t need anyone. Not only that, we can choose from different kinds of such facials to add variety to life. But before doing that, we need to understand whether such facials can help us. We need to know whether they are worth it.

Benefits of Ice Cubes on Face

Question in our mind is what to do after applying ice on face. There are several benefits of Applying ice cubes on face-

  1. It can dramatically improve skin circulation to impart that healthy glow that we all desire. 
  2. Using ice cubes on face can help close all the open pores.
  3. Ice cubes for face also help reduce fine lines and other signs of ageing.
  4. They are a great way to reduce puffiness and dark rings and this is most important for ice on face benefits.
  5. Face Ice Cubes also help to improve skin tone.
  6. Benefits of rubbing ice on face helps the ingredients of skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin and become more effective.
  7. And most of all, these facials are inexpensive, easy to do and natural.

How to Apply Ice on Face?

There is no rocket science involved here. Follow this step-by-step guide to give yourself an ice cube on face at night in home-

Step 1– Cleanse your face the way you usually do to remove all traces of oil and dirt.

Step 2: Take an ice cube and gently massage it all over your face until it melts completely.

However, if you have any underlying skin condition, do not apply the ice cube directly on the face as that might aggravate the issue. Instead, take a muslin/cotton cloth, wrap the ice cube, and then massage it gently on your face. But make sure that the cloth is clean.

Step 3– Keep the ice just for 1 or 2 minutes on different parts of the face. The best thing to do is use gentle, circular motions as you go upwards from the jaw to the cheeks, the nose and the forehead.

Step 4– Finish off by applying your toner and moisturizer.

Types of Ice Cube Facials

When we think of facials, we always visualize parlours and expensive treatments. But that’s not needed here. Though plain ice cubes can also be used, we have decided to combine healing ingredients from the kitchen with rejuvenating and refreshing properties of ice cubes to give you the perfect glowing facial right in the comfort of your home. Since all the ingredients are from your kitchen, no chemicals and preservatives are involved. So you get to take care of your skin easily and naturally.

 So no stepping out, no spending money and no making excuses.

1. Milk Ice-Cube

Milk; is the easiest to source ingredient, the best natural moisturizer for the face, which women have been using since time immemorial. Bursting with antioxidants, milk acts as a natural exfoliator, which enhances the skin complexion and imparts a healthy glow.

How to Make

  • Take ¼ cup milk and ¼ cup water.
  • Mix the two, pour into ice cube trays and freeze.

2. Green Tea Ice-Cube

Green tea, which is abundant in antioxidants, is the perfect antidote to early signs of ageing, pimples and dark circles.

How to Make

  • Take 2 tea bags of green tea and 1 mug of boiling water.
  • Soak the tea bags in the boiling water. Leave to brew till the tea cools off. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.

3. Lemon and Cucumber Ice-Cubes

Both lemon and cucumber are full of antioxidants that naturally cleanse and brighten your skin.

How to Make

  • Take 3-4 cucumbers and juice of ½ a lemon.
  • Blend the cucumbers and the lemon juice, mix and pour into ice cube trays, then freeze.

4. Strawberry Ice-Cubes

Strawberries are known to slow down the ageing process, prevent acne, improve skin complexion, lighten dark lips, treat sagging skin and reduce puffiness, just a few of their benefits.

How to Make

  • Take a few strawberries, 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp honey.
  • Blend them nicely.
  •  Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.

5. Tomato Ice-Cubes

Tomatoes are beneficial for lightening the skin and are suitable for all skin types, as they are incredibly soothing.

How to Make

  • Take 2 tomatoes, 1 tsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of honey, and blend them.
  • Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.

6. Beetroot Ice-Cubes

Beetroots are highly beneficial for acne and leave you with soft, pink, glowing, ageless and spotless skin.

How to Make

  • Take 2-3 tbsp of milk and 1 grated beetroot.
  • Mix the two 
  • Strain and pour into ice cube trays and freeze. 

A Few Words of Caution

Though Ice water for face are great for your skin, you need to be mindful of a few things-

1. Keep your facial ice cube tray separate from all the others to ensure that the tray stays clean with no chance of any contamination.

2. Always wash your face the way you usually do before applying ice.

3. Do not keep the ice on a particular part of the face for too long. You don’t want to freeze!! Instead, keep rubbing it slowly and gently.

4. If you are wrapping the ice in cloth, make sure the cloth is clean.

5. And do wrap the ice cube in a piece of cloth before using it if you have any skin condition.

Trivia: Some Interesting Facts about Ice Cube Facials

Models have been known to submerge their faces in a bowl full of ice-cold water to counteract morning-after puffiness. This process also help in ice therapy for face .

You can also make your makeup last longer by rubbing ice on face before applying makeup.
