Blossom Book House is an independent bookstore selling new and used books in Bengaluru. It is an icon of the city situated on Church Street. It was set up in 2001 by Mayi Gowda, an engineer who quit her job to start selling books. From a 200sq ft small setup, the store has now grown to a three-storey building, a booklover’s paradise. It has now become the largest second-hand bookstore in India.

It’s a store where if you are a bibliophile, you can find almost any book you may be looking for, from bestsellers to obscure titles to stand-alone titles. Apart from English books, the store also has books written in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.

The kind of books they have is almost mind-boggling. You can find fiction, travelogues, rare comic books, manga, poetry, plays, and cookbooks, along with books on history, gardening, management and other subjects.
While navigating your way around the store going up and down, you might bump into the ever-knowledgeable, ever-peasant Mayi Gowda, who will be more than happy to handle your queries.
On your way up, you can take in the news of upcoming plays, festivals and workshops from the posters lining the wall next to the staircase.
Blossom Book House also has an online presence with an online store, which will help them face competition from the likes of Amazon and Flipkart.
A bookstore where you can find anything from obscure Sanskrit dictionaries to the latest Graphic novels and literary releases is indeed a book lover’s haven.
